Because I am a geek girl I follow Wil Wheaton on Twitter. Like many girls my age, I had a bit of a crush on Ensign Wesley Crusher back in the day.
Anyway, Wil wrote a blog post this week that I wanted to share. He and the gang from Stand By Me got together last week to record a track for an upcoming special edition 25th anniversary Blu-Ray disk. He talks about running back into Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, and the lack of River Phoenix. It's an eloquent and lovely and kinda heartbreaking tale. Go read it.
I have to say, I kind of adore that movie. I wore the soundtrack out - it was easy to do with cassettes. It's the perfect blend of funny and scary and poignant. A truly lovely film. It definitely encouraged my fear of leeches - when we camped in Minnesota in the summers I didn't even want to get NEAR the water.
I do, however, want to get a big scary dog and name it Chopper.
Any Stand By Me fans out there? Anyone else as traumatized by the leech scene as I was?
