Now blend into the perfect pop culture dream girl.
There before you stands Kristy Swanson.
Boys wanted to date her, girls wanted to be her, and your mom admired her perky effervescence.
We got a chance to speak to Kristy this week about her upcoming GMC movie What If.., and she's as sweet and soulful in real life as she appears on screen.
Hi, Kristy! Thanks for taking the time to speak to us today!
No problem.
You have a movie premiering on GMC on January 30th called What If... that co-stars Kevin Sorbo and John Ratzenberger. It's about a guy that chooses one path in life but then gets a look at what could have been had he gone down another road. If you hadn't been an actress, what do you think your alternate career or life path would have been?
Wow, I'm not really sure! When I was young I was really into oceanography but I also really got intrigued by forensics and detective work, so I probably would have done something like that. Yeah, definitely detective work.
You were Buffy, the original vampire slayer, and she was kind of the predecessor of these sweet but deadly heroines in films like Sucker Punch and Kick-Ass. Who can you think of today that's a role model for girls to look up to?
Oh my! You're talking to the wrong person at this point in time because sadly all I watch is Little Einsteins and Dora The Explorer so I wouldn't know. (laughter) I've got a toddler!

Yeah, if it's not Dora or Diego or Popeye... Yeah, that's what I watch. It will change as my kid grows, but that's what I'm into at the moment.
You won Skating With Celebrities, do you ever get a chance to go back out on the ice anymore?
My life definitely revolves around my son and continuing to work and have my career. Skating is something my husband does and he's on the ice every day coaching all the time. He's been coaching for about five years or so. Every once in a while, I'll take my son out on the ice, but I have no desire to skate by myself. That's not fun to me. My experience in skating was skating with Lloyd, my husband. Pair skating is more fun than just going out there and skating around in circles. I can't do much without him!
I've got to ask you about the Syfy movie Swamp Shark. What was it like working on that film?
I had a great time! We shot that last June and I believe you can see the trailer on YouTube! I had a wonderful time. We shot it in Lafeyette Louisiana and D.B. Sweeney is in it and the great Robert Davi. Oh, and also introducing Sophie Sinese, who is the daughter of Gary Sinese, who is a wonderful actress.
It was so much fun and you know it's Swamp Shark on Syfy, so it's all about fun. It's got a crazy shark. What's greater than that?
I'm going to be honest here and tell you that I cannot get enough of the Syfy channel.
I think it's coming out in March but then I heard maybe summer so I'm not exactly sure of the date it will be premiering. I'm excited to see it because I spoke to the director last week. He called me and he said, "I just finished the final edit of the film and I just have to tell you Kristy, I am so excited. I think this is my BEST one it's so good. The cast was so great!" He was all pumped.

Oh yes, there is absolutely comedy and that's what so great about it, it's kind of got it all. It's drama and it's got a great message and it's got comedic elements, so it's not going to bring you down! It's a feel good movie with a message. It's got John Ratzenberger, so of course it's got comedy!
No pulling on hearstrings, so tissues away?
Well it's got that too, it all depends how it affects you. John Ratzenberger sat behind me at the cast and crew screening and he was sobbing his eyes out. It was unbelievable. I was crying as well as some other people. So it's not a high level comedy or slapstick, it has comedic elements that add a nice touch to the film.
Tissues back out. You've had the chance to work with Charlie Sheen a few times over your career in Hot Shots, The Chase and in Ferris Beuller's Day Off. You guys have great chemistry on screen. Did you choose to work with him on purpose or was that a twist of fate?
Technically, we've worked together in three films but we didn't work directly with each other in Ferris and we did Hot Shots in the '90s and then The Chase. Ferris, he got cast in that and I didn't even know him then, and Hot Shots was kind of random as well but that's when I got to know him because we were working with each other. And then in The Chase we played opposite each other and we already had a history and a lot of mutual friends, so I knew him pretty well.

That IS true actually. I don't know if there was ever a European version made, but there was one where there was a kissing scene that was maybe a little bit racier but I don't really recall to be honest. I think like I said there was a racier version, but there was no nudity.
Now I'd like to ask you the CB 3 and I'd like to add that it's the first time we've asked someone who's been part of these questions so it's kind of awesome. Thriller or Purple Rain?
The albums or the videos?
The album, but you are the first person who has ever inquired about that.
Ooh. Probably Purple Rain.
Do you prefer Debbie Gibson or Tiffany?
(hestitation) Debbie? That's so funny.
You sound unsure. (laughs)
Yes, Debbie Gibson.
Now here's the question you're in: Pretty In Pink or Sixteen Candles?
Pretty In Pink of course!
Thank you for talking to us Kristy.
Thanks and hope to talk to you again.
